Pest infestations make you feel twitchy, itchy, and anxious. Every shadow you see looks like a roach or a mouse scampering through your house. West Termite offers one time exterminations, but we also offer custom monthly and quarterly pest control plans to help you prevent future infestations. All of our technicians are experienced, professional, and trained in the latest treatments and technology for pest control in River Valley. And for your peace of mind, we also thoroughly screen and drug test everyone in the company.
Why Do I Need Pest Control in River Valley?
One mouse or a few spiders is likely no cause for alarm – citronella candles, bug spray, roach motels, and peppermint oil are all perfectly adequate options for the occasional pest. But these one-time sightings are often a sign of an unseen, full-fledged infestation. Call an exterminator before your one-time sighting becomes an invasion.
West Termite Pest & Lawn offers a variety of services to help keep your home happy, healthy and pest-free.
Roach Clean Outs
Something about roaches is especially upsetting – maybe it’s the shiny black body armor or the jerky way they move. But whatever the reason for our disgust, the worst thing about roaches has to be how many you don’t see. Because for every roach sighted in your kitchen, there are dozens more under the floorboards, in the basement, or hiding in your walls. (Sorry – that’s a horrible thing to read, but it has to be said.)
While roaches are traditionally thought to be drawn to dirty homes, they’re also found in the cleanest homes in River Valley. They can survive on almost nothing and they reproduce rapidly. Roaches, and their eggs, can find their way into your home by:
- Crawling in through small cracks and holes in the building
- Hitching a ride on backpacks, bags, suitcases or other containers
- Openings around doors and windows
- Moving from one apartment to the next through shared pipes or adjacent walls
Roaches aren’t harmful except that their skin and droppings can worsen symptoms in people with allergies and asthma. If you suspect you have a roach infestation, contact a pest control professional in River Valley right away.
Bed bugs are nearly invisible, tiny parasites that live in the fibers of cloth – sheets, blankets, upholstery, carpets, etc. – and they live on a blood-only diet. That’s why you wake up covered with red bites during a bed bug infestation.
It takes early detection and the right combination of heat and liquid treatment to properly exterminate bed bugs. So as soon as you get that first bite or wake up to a crawling sensation on your skin give us a call.
Rodents carry diseases, contaminate food and chew through important electrical wires. Rodents are also hosts for parasites like ticks and fleas, which can lead to a secondary infestation of your home.
Rats and mice often take up residence in your home’s walls, basement, crawlspaces or attic – anywhere that is less frequented by humans. So when you do spy a rat or a mouse in your home, it’s safe to assume that there is an established nest somewhere unseen and nearby. Look for droppings – black or brown pellets – in the pantry, attic, garage, crawlspace, or in the walls (only if you have safe and easy access!) to be sure. If you find droppings, you definitely have rodents.
When traps and repellants don’t work, call us for a free consultation. We offer one-time exterminations as well as long-term rodent control plans in River Valley.
Most spiders can live for months without food or water. They collect in corners where they can quietly feed on flies, gnats, and other household insects. Spiders also tend to live in doorways, basements, ductwork, and attics. While many species of spiders are harmless completely harmless, there are two exceptions. Species like the black widow and brown recluse are venomous to humans and if you suspect you have an infestation you should contact an exterminator immediately.
Black Widows – These infamous arachnids have black bodies and an orange/red hourglass on the bottom of their abdomen. But not always! Some black widow spiders have only a red stripe, two dots, or no red markings at all. This makes them difficult to identify, even if you manage to snare one and get a closer look (which we do NOT suggest).
Exterminating black widows requires special insecticides and treatments. As soon as you suspect a black widow infestation, contact a spider control specialist. Consider removing yourself and your family from the premises – especially if you have small children. Black widows only bite when attacked, and their bites rarely kill people, but they can cause serious illness, muscle spasms and muscle pain. Small children and pets are at the greatest risk.
Brown Recluses – Brown recluses have a distinct fiddle or violin pattern on their back and three pairs of eyes instead of the usual four. But even with these distinct differences from other spiders, it’s difficult to correctly identify a brown recluse – especially when they’re scurrying away from you to hide!
Most brown recluse bites don’t pose a serious health threat, but if your child is bitten by a brown recluse, take them to the ER. Their little bodies cannot fight the venom in the same way a grown adult can. In very rare cases they may experience seizures, trouble breathing, or possibly fall into a coma.
Our technicians have experience and special training in how to approach a brown recluse infestation. Contact a technician today if you have questions or concerns about spider control in River Valley.
Fleas are tiny parasites that feed off the blood of humans and animals. The first sign of a flea infestation is often the itching and scratching of your family or your pets accompanied by small red bites. Fleas can also carry tapeworms and other diseases that they spread through their bites.
Because of their rapid, cyclical reproduction cycle, fleas are difficult to get rid of on your own – especially once they’ve invaded several areas of your home. The eggs are killed differently than the adults so you have to kill them in cycles until you get every last one.
With flea control in River Valley, the prevention is worth its weight in gold. West Termite Pest & Lawn technicians can help you end your current flea problem, but they will always recommend a long-term flea control program to ensures prevention. This keeps your costs (and your itching!) down.
